"The rhythms of nature have gotten into my work. I don't see the landscape any longer as a view or as a collection of objects. I see it, or feel it as interacting forces: as movement and change.
I get out into the landscape and paint it- directly from it. This is the real inspiration. It's not just a composition or an idea; you inhabit the land and it speaks through you.
The rain and mists and wood grain and the flow of water have taught me about the power of suggestion. Knowing and talking with Mary Rahdlett has underscored this.
Water's the thing! People complain about how much it rains here, but all you have to do is travel the world a bit to see how special and enviable our abundance is: how it’s rhythms and flow suggest the essence of awareness."
