"This photograph is from a series of agricultural landscapes from Central and Eastern Washington, and Central Oregon. While most photographs in the series are about interplay of light, color, patterns, and scale, this image is more documentary.
My fascination with fields and hills began 4 years ago. Born in New York City, and growing up nearby, I knew cities, and later wilderness. But it was not until 25 years of Seattle winters drove me over the mountains that I finally saw the fields of Central and Eastern Washington, and later, Central Oregon.
It was a revelation. Light and sky, expansiveness and constantly changing color. Patterns and undulations. Space and scale. The appearance of a lone tree on the horizon, a homestead tiny in the distance. The serendipity of sunlight, wind and clouds, and the human imprint on the contours of the land."
