Undergraduate Minors

Our Minors

The Department is happy to offer 4 unique minors that can be added to your major. These minors are completely open to all majors across campus and don't require that you have an agricultural major, we welcome everyone who wants to explore agriculture!

OSU Leadership Minor (Corvallis campus and Ecampus): Want to take your leadership skills to the next level? This minor is for you then! The Leadership minor applies to students of all majors and is intended to enhance the leadership potential of students throughout the university. Take cool courses like Team and Organizational Leadership, where you will learn how to make the most out of team projects in your next career and Personal Leadership Development where you will learn your own personal leadership style and how to leverage it. If you are interested in developing your leadership potential, the Leadership Minor is for you!

Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources Communications (Corvallis campus and Ecampus): Want to learn how to better convey your agriculture/natural resources issues, research, products, and business to stakeholders? How about how to create effective infographics, social media posts, and podcasts? This minor might be perfect for you then! A minor in agricultural sciences and natural resources communications (known as agricultural communications at other institutions) prepares students for careers in communications and public service roles in the agricultural, natural resources, forestry, and environmental sciences disciplines. This minor allows for students who may be well-versed in the technical knowledge of their science-based agriculture or natural resources discipline to effectively communicate vital information about agriculture and natural resources to a multitude of audiences.

Comparative International Agriculture Minor (Corvallis campus): Hope to explore agricultural concepts and practical experiences through global awareness coursework, language immersion via study/research abroad, and/or international fieldwork? This may be for you! The minor provides students with opportunities to explore international agricultural concepts through classroom and practical experiences, cultural immersion via study/research abroad, and/or international fieldwork. The 27 credit hour curriculum prepares students for successful post-baccalaureate international and globally-focused careers, or those seeking graduate studies in international agriculture programs. Students examine current international agricultural issues, communication across cultures, and diverse issues and trends. To be eligible to apply for this minor, students must have a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher and be in good standing with Oregon State University. Agricultural Sciences (Corvallis campus): The Agricultural Sciences minor is available for undergraduate students who crave to add a wide breadth of agriculture to their major program. Often times, agricultural business management majors and other agriculture/natural resource majors will add this minor in order to receive a more holistic look at agriculture. Students will have the chance to take courses within a resource management umbrella theme, as well as agriculture production. The minor allows for upper-division coursework exploration across our college's various departments. The minor is 27 quarter credits and must include a minimum of 12 quarter credits of upper-division (300/400 level coursework).
