Agriculture in the Classroom Literacy Program
The 2012 AITC Literacy Project begins March 12 and runs through May 31.
* Start to finish, the Literacy Project takes about 45 minutes.
- Literacy volunteers set up times to visit their local schools.
- Volunteers read to students in kindergarten through fourth grade.
- Following the reading, volunteers do an activity with students and share their experiences in agriculture.
All activity materials are completely prepared by AITC.
About This Year's Book
Seed, Soil, Sun is a breath of sunshine and this year's featured AITC Literacy Project book. Clearly written and beautifully photographed, this book describes the miraculous process by which air and water combine with seeds, soil, and sun to create nearly all the food we eat.
Each class receives a free copy of the book and each student gets a bookmark.
