Largely a self taught visual artist who spent his professional life as a biological scientist. Sketching and cartooning were a component of his early life beginning in childhood, however, it was not until much later that he began to dabble in watercolors and acrylic painting. Printmaking, particularly aquatint etching, has been another one of his several artistic ventures. Retirement in 1998 allowed him to embark on a second career as an amateur artist.
