The Tradeoffs Team is currently involved in a number of methodological developments related to the TOA-MD model, including:

  • A new version of the TOA-MD model that will include several new features such as computation of treatment effects and counterfactuals
  • Linking TOA-MD to gridded crop and livestock models
  • New food security indicators for use with TOA-MD
  • On-going develpment of scenario methods for use with TOA-MD, including Representative Agricultural Pathways, featured below.

Representative Agricultural Pathways (RAPs)

Representative Agricultural Pathways and Scenarios (RAPs) are being developed by the TOA Project in collaboration with the Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP) and the Regional Approaches to Climate Change in Pacific Northwest Agriculture (REACCH) project. The goal is to develop an approach and tools to create global and regional pathways and scenarios that will be of use to AgMIP and the global agricultural modeling community for model inter-comparison, improvement and impact assessment. This approach is building on recent developments by the global integrated assessment modeling community, including the development of Shared Socio-Economic Pathways.

The following papers are now available on request (email tradeoffs.team@oregonstate.edu). These papers summarize the AgMIP methodologies for Regional Integrated Assessment and for RAPs:

The devRAP Tool

The devRAP tool is an excel spreadsheet file that provides a structure for organizing the information contained in RAPs. Contact the Tradeoffs Team for more information (tradeoffs.team@oregonstate.edu).
