Special Research Grants are noncompetitive line-item grants. The award of these grants are subject to the availability of funds mandated by congress each year. The Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) administer these grants, which are subject to a period not to exceed three years in duration. The Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station currently has nine Special Research Grants.
