Advising System

Student advising in the College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS) is rated the highest for quality on the OSU campus. The advising system within the CAS is decentralized, which means each CAS student is assigned an adviser from his or her own academic program. Each program has a departmental head adviser who coordinates the advising system for that program. Some of the college’s programs have centralized advising, which means that all students in that program see the departmental head adviser; and some programs are decentralized, which means that most students are assigned to one of several faculty advisers.

In the CAS, your primary resource for advising is your assigned adviser in your academic program. For information about registration, to obtain signatures for petitions and forms and other academic advising issues, you may directly contact the departmental head adviser for your program.

If you have any questions about the college’s advising system or whom to contact for registration and advising, please contact the college head adviser’s office at 541-737-2211.
