The University of British Columbia (UBC) is the third largest university in Canada. Incorporated by the provincial government in 1908, UBC admitted its first students in 1915 and moved to its present location in 1925. There are 38,000 full time students. The university offers courses in 12 Faculties and 10 Schools with over 100 academic departments. Classes can be taken at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels. The campus and buildings are spread over 1,000 acres located on the end of the Point Grey peninsula, surrounded by the ocean on three sides and Pacific Spirit Park on the forth side.
The campus is about 7 miles from downtown Vancouver, easily accessible by bus, car and bicycle.
