Colleagues:
Two members of the College of Agricultural Sciences Academic Programs office have agreed to accept additional, broader responsibilities that are consistent with the College’s priorities. I want you to be aware of these changes of assignment.
Cary Green, assistant dean for academic programs, has relinquished his role as the College’s head advisor so he may accept additional College-wide administrative responsibility for international programs. As you may recall, our task force on international programs recently recommended more comprehensive and systematic development of the College’s international discovery, learning, and engagement programs in the food, agricultural and natural resource sciences.
In continuing to lead the Academic Programs office, Cary will have overall responsibility for the student experience in the College of Agricultural Sciences. In that capacity, he works closely with academic department heads to provide direction for recruitment, orientation, academic advising, student retention, and career planning services. Consistent with his added responsibilities, Cary’s title will now be associate dean for academic and international programs.
Brett Jeter, assistant director for outreach in the Academic Programs office, has agreed to accept the head advisor role while continuing his student outreach activities. With his new, broader responsibilities, Brett will head the College’s decentralized advising system, will offer general advising to prospective and current students, and will oversee student retention programs. He will be responsible for ensuring the College’s recruitment programs are effective, and will provide key liaison to potential students, their families, and their schools. He also will work with organizations supporting underrepresented students. Consistent with his new role, Brett’s title will be head advisor and director for outreach.
Cary joined the College of Agricultural Sciences in 2007 from Texas Tech University where he was a professor of soil chemistry and director of the Ag Recruitment and Career Center for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Brett has worked for OSU since 2002, first with Extended Campus and, since 2005, with our College.
Please join me in expressing appreciation to Cary Green and Brett Jeter for accepting these broader responsibilities that are so critical to our College’s continued success.
Ciao,
Sonny Ramaswamy
