Artist Statement:

"When it comes to natural resources, I tend to think pessimistically about humankind’s ability to morally and ethically steward the land. I have much concern about how we interact with our environment and that is reflected in my artwork. I know that my tendency is to ignore problems until they require drastic measures. This seems to be true of people in general. If this continues, the resources of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest that we exalt might suffer more greatly than they already do.

"These three works represent three systems working in harmony: forests, mountains and ocean, and address symbolically the crises those systems face. Southern Oregon is a rich, diverse region, where a delicate balance tipped by deforestation or blocked rivers can spread havoc."
