Join us in celebrating 40 years of OSU College of Agricultural Sciences’ Art About Agriculture program with Strand Gallery’s solo exhibition of the one and only, Tom Allen!
Thanks to an unexpected painting donation from a former student of Allen, coupled with artwork discovered during the remodel of Cordley Hall, Art About Agriculture received seven original watercolors within the last year. This exhibition will include Tom Allen’s first acquisitions into the Art About Agriculture Permanent Collection, alongside paintings on loan from him that convey his storied career in the arts and sciences.
Tom Allen launched the Art About Agriculture program in 1983, laying the foundation for its dynamic permanent collection and the annual Oregon tour. Professor Emeritus of Botany and Plant Pathology, Allen had 200+ scientific papers published during his 30-year career at OSU. He also served as the past president of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, Corvallis Art Center, and Corvallis Art Guild.
