Artist Statement:
"As with the other two works I have in this exhibit, this farm stand/trailer is along my familiar bike route outside of Albany. From late spring into the fall, the anonymous stand is filled with offerings from a garden and orchard. A small sign within the stand states, “PLEASE DON’T LEAVE MONEY”. The sign goes on to explain that the grower would just like to share the extra produce with anyone who stops by, and prefers not to deal with payments. As members of the Willamette Community Garden in Albany, my wife and I value and admire this spirit of growing and freely sharing seasonal food.
"I have done many sketches of the stand during my rides, and thought a more finished painting would be an appropriate work for this exhibit. The extensive garden (with gardener) shown behind the stand was painted from imagination, using reference images from the Community Garden.”
