Blog: Climate Impact on Food and Nutrition Systems

Professor John Antle recently presented at Climate Impact on Food and Nutrition Systems: Coordinated Global and Regional Assessments, an event hosted by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). He was joined by Cynthia Rosenzweig and Keith Wiebe to discuss the Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP). Antle and Rosenzweig are AgMIP Co-Principal Investigators and Wiebe is an AgMIP global economics co-leader. Professor Antle spoke specifically about AgMIP efforts in regional integrated assessment. He discussed how stakeholders understand climate is changing and desire to know what actions can be taken. He demonstrated, using AgMIP’s research in Zimbabwe, how AgMIP pursues an iterative process of stakeholder involvement to improve assessments. He also discussed how the AgMIP methodology attempts to understand potential future changes to better understand possible vulnerabilities and potential adaptations to climate.
