Managing Menus

There are 2 ways to make edits to your site menu.

  1. using the edit screen on individual pages
  2. using the group dashboard, you can edit the backend of your menu

With both of these options you can add, remove, or rearrange the order of items in the menu.

Scroll to the bottom of the edit screen for the page

(A) Make sure the Menu Settings tab is selected

(B) To add a link, click the box next to Provide a menu link.  To remove a link from the menu uncheck this box.

(C) Menu link title -> Enter the link title as you would like it to appear in the menu

(D) Parent item-> Select the location in the menu you want the link to appear

(E) Weight -> This sets the order under the parent item that the link appears

Click the green [Save] button at the bottom of the page

(A) From the top blue menu bar click on the link for [Dashboard]

(B) In the right side column you will see a heading for My OSU Groups.  Under this will be a list of all of the groups you are associated with.  Click on the name of the group you want to work on.

(A) Click on the [Group] tab

(B) Click on the [Menus] link

(C) Click on [List links] next to your menu name

(A) Click on the Add Menu link at the top of the page. This will open a new screen.

(1) Menu link title -> Enter the link title as you would like it to appear in the menu

(2) Path -> Enter the URL of the page you want the link to go to

(3) Parent Link -> Select the location in the menu you want the link to appear

(4) Weight -> This sets the order under the parent item that the link appears

(5) Save your new link

You can enable or disable a menu item by checking or unchecking the disable box (C) next to the link name.

The [Save Configuration] button at the bottom of the page needs to be clicked for your changes to take effect.

If you disable the menu item it will not appear in the menu, but it will keep that structure in the breadcrumbs on the individual page. If the page is not in a menu, then the breadcrumbs bar will only display that pages name.

Example of breadcrumbs location

On the menu dashboard click the link for delete (B) next to the menu item you would like to remove

You will then be taken to a second page with the following message that will ask you to confirm that you want to delete this link

"Are you sure you want to delete the custom menu link XXX?"

Click the [Confirm] button

You can drag and drop menu items using the + icon (D) next to the link title.

Once you have reordered your menu items, click the [Save Configuration] button at the bottom of the page.
