The College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University has named Stephanie Harvey as CAS Financial Officer, effective July 22, 2024.
Harvey is a dedicated financial professional, most recently serving as the Director of Capital Accounting & Financial Planning at Oregon State University. Since August 2017, she led fiscal affairs and managed financial accounting, analysis, and budgeting for various units under the Senior Associate Vice President of Administration. Her focus includes strategic planning and capital project accounting, with the goal of presenting timely and relevant financial information in an accessible format to best support decision-making.
Serving on the administrative side at OSU since June 2011, Harvey has served in accounting positions of increasing responsibility with business and facilities services groups. Throughout her roles, she has supported Education & General departments and self-support units. Her experience includes budget development, fee structure analysis, GASB standards, financial planning, reporting, and system oversight. Her leadership skills include consistently supporting and mentoring colleagues, providing her team opportunities to grow professionally, and creating an environment that is welcoming and respecting of others.
Harvey fills the CAS Finanical Officer position left open by Jackie Thorsness, who was named CAS Chief Operating Officer in March 2024. “We’re very excited to welcome Stephanie into this critical role,” said Thorsness. “In addition to financial acumen and extensive knowledge of OSU accounting processes, she will bring a collaborative spirit that aligns with our college values.”
Harvey holds an Honors Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Oregon State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in Oregon. Her early career was at a CPA firm in Eugene, where she gained valuable governmental audit experience. She has a passion for governmental accounting, using that foundational knowledge throughout her work.
