College of Agricultural Sciences CAMP Announces 2022 winners

OSU CAMP (Oregon State University College Assistance Migrant Program), and OSU CAS (College of Agricultural Sciences) is proud to announce five scholarship winners for 2022. This program was developed in response to the immediate need and high social relevancy for skilled graduates to fill positions in the Food, Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Human (FANH) Sciences. The Latinx population is the fastest-growing demographic in the U.S., yet proportionally fewer Latinx students receive baccalaureate degrees, and fewer still go on to graduate and professional programs. To address this participation gap and increase career- or graduate program-ready graduates in the FANH Sciences, this multicultural scholars program provides opportunities for Latinx students with family histories of migrant or seasonal agricultural work with $6,500 in tuition support for up to four years as well as paid internship and research experience and expenses for national conference participation for over $30,000.

This year’s winners are:

  • Juan Cortez Zavala  - Fisheries Wildlife and Conservation Sciences
  • Daniel Gonzalez -  Agricultural Sciences
  • Roberto Ponce Velez – Fisheries Wildlife and Conservation Sciences
  • Lizet Camacho-Figueroa,  Animal Sciences
  • Belen Mendoza-Amezcua,  BioResource Research
