Soldier beetles, also known as leatherwings, are beetles in the family Cantharidae. The adult beetles can be found feeding on aphid colonies and therefore are considered beneficial natural enemies. One of the most common species we see in the Willamette Valley is Podabrus pruinosus LeConte.
