Objectives:
Address the folloeing concerns of Oregon processors:
- Markets for Oregon beets are declining.
- Premiums per case for Oregon table beets over beets produced elsewhere in the United States are also declining.
- Table beets are limited in their use to being canned and cannot be blended with other vegetables due to bleeding of their red color.
- Production is hampered by several diseases, notably downy and powdery mildews and rust.
