Awards are negotiated and spending indices are issued by the Office of Sponsored Projects and Award Administration.

Need to start spending?

Award set-up takes time. A pending index number can be granted on many awards that will allow you to spend before the award set-up is complete.  This tool is for time-sensitive projects where spending needs to start immediately (field seasons, conferences, etc.)  Work with your departmental administrative contact and Agricultural Sciences & Marine Sciences Business Center (AMBC) to find out whether a pending index can be issued for your award.  You will need approval from your unit to set up the pending index.  Forms are submitted to OSRAA.

Non-competitive external funding

If you receive funds that didn’t require prior approval by Oregon State, the first step will be to submit the proposal/award through Cayuse SP.   Contact CAS grant staff Liz Etherington, Cody Hess, or Sarah Child-Rodgers for assistance -- or follow the steps at Submit Proposals.

Agricultural Research Foundation awards

To set up a spending index for gifts received through the Agricultural Research Foundation, work with Sarah Child-Rodgers.

USDA NIFA grants - REEport

Grants from USDA NIFA also require that Project Initiation in REEport be set up before funds are released from NIFA to Oregon State.  Principal investigators should contact Meghan Heineman to walk you through this process. USDA provides guidance in the REEPort Guide for Project Directors.
