About Us

Who Are We?

Jose, Tyler, and Alex: Three seniors studying Computer Science at Oregon State University.
Amy J. Dreves: Assistant Professor, Crop and Soil Science Department at Oregon State University

This project was dreamt up by Dr. Amy J. Dreves as a necessary tool for growers in the Willamette Valley. Wouldn't it be great to have a website that could be the hub of information for the Pacific Northwest about all things slug related? After submitting the ideas as a project proposal to the Computer Science Senior Design class, we (Jose, Tyler, and Alex) were equally intrigued. We all chose this project because we were interested in learning and web design, and were excited about a project that would directly impact the community around us. It was a 9 month long process (Fall 2015-June 2016) that consisted of design meetings, user studies, slug research, programming, and lots of coffee. Our hope is that with this site, growers and researchers from around the Pacific Northwest and beyond can learn more about slugs and how to properly manage them. We know that we have only brushed the surface, and are excited to see this website grow as more information and research becomes available!

Below is the poster that we presented as part of the Engineering Expo at Oregon State University in May 2016.
