The composting site was built in 2009 with funding from the OSU Agricultural Research Foundation. The site has been used for research into developing specialty compost for organic blueberry production.
Dan Sullivan is the lead researcher and Ryan Costello is the graduate student working on the project. The facility is also used to host the Agricultural Composting Resources & Education (ACRES) workshop series. The two day workshop has been held since 2009. It includes classroom and hands-on sessions where participants build and evaluate compost piles. Workshop information is available at the ACRES website.
