Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center (SOREC) is an R1 research unit of Oregon State University located here in the beautiful Rogue Valley. Our team is comprised of PIs, Research Assistants, Farm Manager, techs, and staff dedicated to research focused on key local crops (wine grapes, pears, forages, and hemp), plant pathology, and entomology towards supporting local and regional growers at all levels of industry, and the wider agricultural community.
Internships at SOREC are available to local undergraduate and graduate students in Southern Oregon, to OSU students, and depending on limited funding via resources like OWRI to students internationally.
There is regular but limited funding available depending on which of SOREC's three labs you are interested in working with: Viticulture, Plant Pathology, or Entomology.
If you are interested in exploring the opportunity of an internship at SOREC, please first reach out to the PI for the lab that you're interested in working with. We suggest students review this guide for students emailing faculty researchers.
