Transcript of Video

  1. As part of the College of Agricultural Sciences, we're always making big impacts in research, teaching, and extension. Featuring these impacts on your website is a great way to let stakeholders know what's happening within your unit.
  2. The Feature Story is a piece of content that lives on your website's homepage and is displayed as a large image and teaser statement. From there, a user can click the feature to learn more.
  3. To create a Feature Story on your website, click Content > Add Content > Feature Story at the top of the page.
  4. Next, select the Group or Unit in which the page should appear. The Group or Unit is another name for your website.
  5. Add a Title.
  6. Next, check the Display in Rotating Feature Block for this Feature to display on your site's homepage.
  7. Click Browse under Picture to upload a photo, or choose a photo from the library to select a large image for the rotating feature.
  8. Enter a caption, which is a short, descriptive sentence about the Feature Story, written to compell the user to click.
  9. The Body is where you enter the Feature Story's content. You can type it in directly, or copy/paste from Word. Please use the Copy/Paste from Word tool if you are doing so.
  10. Click Save and navigate back to your homepage. You will see the Feature Story front and center.
  11. When you'd like to remove the Feature Story from your home page, click into the Feature Story, click the Edit tab, then unclick the Display in Rotating Feature Block option. The Feature Story will no longer be displayed on your homepage. You will have to log out to see the change.
  12. If you have any questions about creating new Feature Stories or need help, contact the CAS Web Team at caswebrequest@oregonstate.edu.
