Nik Wiman is a postdoctoral associate working on the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB), Halyomorpha halys. This insect is an invasive pest that poses a major threat to Oregon specialty crops. His projects include state-wide surveys for BMSB, evaluation of natural enemies of BMSB, flight capacity and population dynamics of BMSB, identification of risk from BMSB, and host-plant preferences of BMSB in Oregon. Nik received a BS and MS from Montana State University where he worked on biological control of weeds in rangeland. From there, he transitioning into tree fruit entomology, working for nearly a decade on mating disruption, biological control, and pest population dynamics in Wenatchee Washington, ultimately earning his PhD from WSU in 2011.
