The Blueberry Extension Program is led by Dr. Wei Qiang Yang, District Berry Extension Agent serving the North Willamette Valley. Our work focuses on commercial berry crops, with a particular emphasis on blueberry production. We specialize in all aspects of blueberry production systems — from field establishment, physiology, and nutrition to irrigation, disease and pest management, postharvest handling, and international marketing.
Each year, our winter workshops on pruning and nutrition provide valuable education and hands-on learning opportunities for a broad audience.
Current projects include machine harvesting for the fresh market, food safety and sanitation, development of the blueberry tree, improving the efficiency of blueberry pruning, and creation of the Blueberry ChatBot — an innovative tool designed to enhance grower support and information access.
