Genetically Engineered Organisms (also known as Genetically Modified Organisms or GMOs), is a very important topic in agriculture, with the public, and in the media. In fact, the growing field of Biotechnology will continue to reshape agriculture in many new ways. The potentials are huge. How we incorporate biotechnology into agriculture and our food systems is an important question we all face. And, as with any new field of science, there are risks, rewards, pros, and cons that all need to be considered.
The Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences has prepared five white papers addressing several key areas biotechnology from our science-based perspective. No, we don't have all the answers. But, we do have something important to consider and add to the conversation.
