Adam Ward, who won the CUAHSI Community Service award. This recognizes his service to the organization & broader hydrology community. The citation includes roles in organizing scientific meetings, editing, serving as the CUAHSI secretary for more than 10 years, leadership in online education & teaching resources during the COVID pandemic, and more!

Dr. Stormshak, an emeritus professor in the OSU Dept. of Animal and Rangeland Sciences, recently was honored with the Heritage award from the Society for the Study of Reproduction.

A team of OWRI scientists (Tian Tian, Meghan Ruppel, James Osborne, Elizabeth Tomasino, and Paul Schreiner) was recently awarded the “Best Enology Paper of 2023” by the American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) for their paper, “Fertilize or Supplement: The Impact of Nitrogen on Vine Productivity and Wine Sensory Properties in Chardonnay”. Many of the authors were present at the conference to accept the award. First author, Tian Tian, gave a presentation summarizing the paper during the conference.

Matt Garcia, a MS student in the Osborne Enology Lab at OSU, was awarded “Best enology flash talk” at the American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) National Conference in Napa, CA in June. Matt presented findings from his research on “Impact of malolactic fermentation timing and addition of Torulaspora delbrueckii during cold soak on Pinot noir wine properties.”


NSF uses Rules of Life research to address societal challenges, from clean water to climate change
Microbiome-Mediated Plant Genetic Resistance for Enhanced Agricultural Sustainability: Oregon State University, award 2319568; and Purdue University, award 2319659.
Researchers will collaborate with tribal and non-tribal farmers to develop new approaches that improve disease resistance in wheat, particularly in the Pacific Northwest, thereby improving agricultural sustainability.

Andony Melathopoulos, Christopher Marshall, and Lincoln Best were awarded a NIFA grant for "The B-Team: Help for Land Managers Who Need to Inventory Bee Biodiversity and Identify Associated Plant Communities"
2023 Oregon Agricultural Extension Association and National Association of County Agricultural Agents awards! These recognitions were presented at the annual NACAA meeting recently held in Des Moines, IA.
NATIONAL WINNERS
Melissa Fery was awarded OAEA and NACAA’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award, for her outstanding and engaging Extension outreach.
Scott Duggan was recognized with the Achievement Award for his excellence in the field of Extension.
Melissa Fery, Audrey Comerford, and Teagan Moran were presented with the national communications award for their PACE class “Developing a Successful Agricultural Tourism Business.” (View their award application)
NATIONAL FINALISTS
The fantastic team of Nick Andrews, Heather Stoven, Heidi Noordijk, Lane Selman, Kelly Streit, Brooke Edmunds, and Neil Bell was one of three national communications award finalists for their Extension catalog publication, ‘Winter Vegetable Production on Small Farms and Gardens West of the Cascades’.
