RESOURCEful

Art About Agriculture’s 41st annual competition and touring exhibition presents juried selections from Pacific Northwest artists highlighting the lifeblood of the region’s agricultural diversity, economy, communities, and culture: our natural resources. RESOURCEful presents multifaceted interpretations of natural resources’ inseparable tie to our food and fiber. We are honored to share artworks from artists representing 19 counties throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.  For the first time, Art About Agriculture’s annual juried open call encouraged student art submissions with scholarship awards for College of Agricultural Sciences students of selected artwork.   This opportunity was made possible in partnership with OSU College of Agricultural Sciences’ Academic Programs. We are thrilled to include artwork from four students representing OSU College of Agricultural Sciences, OSU ECampus, and Oregon Coast School of Art.  The 2024 tour will visit Rotunda Gallery at Central Oregon Community College’s beautiful Barber Library and the Oregon Coast School of Art’s forthcoming High Street Gallery. RESOURCEful will be the first exhibition at High Street Gallery and we are elated to support the school’s creative community building in Gardiner, OR.

Established in 1983, Art About Agriculture has inspired countless artists throughout the Pacific Northwest to consider food, fiber, and natural resources in their creative practices.  Founded on the idea that art can promote agricultural awareness and appreciation, the Art About Agriculture Permanent Collection can be found on display in public spaces throughout the state.

The majority of artworks acquisitioned into the Art About Agriculture Permanent Collection were acquired through the annual competition process with purchase awards funded by essential donations and endowments.  Our dynamic collection and unique art loan program have a growing need for funds to maintain, conserve and display art in publicly accessible spaces throughout Oregon.  Please consider donating to Art About Agriculture; all donations directly support art and artists

Featured artwork: Bryan Andresen, Open Range, Eastern Oregon, 2023, digital photographic print, 13.5” x 19”.
