Potatoes

Station Potato Information

The Oregon State University Malheur Experiment Station routinely conducts irrigation, storage, weed control, and variety research for potato production. Potatoes have developed as a very important crop in the Western Treasure Valley, and studies at the MES have helped identify crucial grower information such as irrigation criteria, pest control, and weed control methods.

Multi-year trials have tested dozens of different potato varieties over many years of study, with samples provided by cooperating companies. Varieties are compared for benefits of yield, hardiness, and water efficiency.
