College of Agricultural Sciences Distinguished Career Award

PURPOSE:

To recognize and celebrate the distinguished career of former employees within the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University based on excellence in teaching, research, and outreach.

NATURE:

The recipient will receive $1,000 and a plaque.

ELIGIBILITY:

The nominees must be a former employee, of any rank, within the College of Agricultural Sciences. The award is intended to honor the career of truly outstanding employees who have had a significant and lasting impact on the college, university, and people of Oregon.  Although there is no minimum time of service required for the award, it is anticipated that the nominees will have spent a significant portion of their career at OSU.

CRITERIA:

Evaluations will be based on the following criteria:

  1. Exceptional service and leadership in their performance of duties.
  2. Excellence in accomplishments in the mission areas of the college; teaching, research, and outreach.
  3. Service to the college and university.
    • Examples of this could include serving on unit, college, or university promotion and tenure committees, search committees, university faculty senate, special projects, or professional society organizations such as PFLA.
  4. Evidence of recognition beyond the university.
    • Examples of this can include serving on professional society organizations and boards, community service boards, or councils.
    • Non-profit volunteer organizations in cause areas such as environment, natural resources, seniors, veterans, and youths.
    • Any other service that promotes well-being in their community.

Nomination Materials:

In addition to the base nomination materials required for all awards, supporting letters in the nomination packets should attest to the quality and impact of the nominee’s outstanding contributions.
