Savery Outstanding Young Faculty Award

PURPOSE

To recognize outstanding contributions through teaching, research, international, and/or extended education activities of a young faculty member in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Oregon State University.

NATURE

The recipient will receive $1,000 and a plaque.

ELIGIBILITY

Nominees must be a faculty member in the College of Agricultural Sciences and be within 15 years of the terminal degree. Nominees who are not selected may be nominated again the following year.

The Dean, Associate Deans, Chief Operating Officer, and all other Agricultural Sciences administration personnel are not eligible to receive or contribute to the nomination for an award.

CRITERIA

Nominations will be evaluated on the following basis:

  • Mastery of the subject.
  • Ability to communicate and motivate with lectures, programs, or publications.
  • Contributions leading to the improvement of agricultural production, processing, conservation of natural resources, or the development of human potential, and/or the improvement of the quality of life.

NOMINATION Materials:

In addition to the base nomination materials required for all awards (one (1) paragraph bio-summary, letter of nomination, and three (3) supporting letters), nomination packets must also include:

  1. The letter of nomination should provide evidence of a successful program and address the criteria above.
  2. Supporting letters should come from both colleagues and clients.
    1. At least two letters should come from individuals not employed by the University.
  3. A professional/abbreviated resume (3 pg. max.).
  4. Position description.

Complete nomination packets (combined into one PDF document) should be emailed to [email protected] no later than 5:00 pm on April 9, 2026. Corrections or updates to nomination packets will not be accepted after the nomination deadline.
